Papaya is full of vitamins A and C, potassium, calcium, iron, thiamine, riboflavin.

The flesh of this fruit ranges in color from orange to red.

The papaya is noted to be one of the world's healthiest fruits. They range in colors and sizes from yellow to green and from small to very large depending on where it is being grown and how much attention the tree gets.
A properly ripened fruit is juicy, sweet and somewhat like a cantaloupe in flavor.

The fruit (and leaves) contain papain which helps digestion and is used to tenderize meat. We wrap the meat in the washed leaves for an hour or two. The edible seeds have a spicy flavor. We grind them in a coffee mill and sprinkle them in salad.

Smoothie

4 C papaya, peeled and chopped
2 C pineapple juice
1 C milk, 1% reduced fat
1 C bananas, sliced
8 ice cubes
2 T honey
4 tsp fresh lime juice

Combine all ingredients in blender. Puree until smooth. Pour into glasses.

These fruits are full of vitamins. They have A, C, potassium in high amounts and also calcium, iron, thiamine, riboflavin and niacin. They are low in calories as well, making them a great snack for just about anytime and a perfect morning fruit to get your day started.

Be forewarned; this fruit can sometimes be a 'body cleanser' and you may find yourself needing to stay close to a restroom for the first hour or two after eating.
